For the 17th time, VBCPS has been named a Best Community for Music Education by The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.

For the 2026-27 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $18.9 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has released school results under Virginia’s redesigned two-part model, which separates Accreditation from the School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF). These measures provide a more detailed view of school quality and student outcomes across the state.
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released Standard of Learning (SOL) pass rate data on Aug. 27. The overall SOL pass rates for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) exceeded the state pass rates in all subject areas.

Organizational Structure
The School Board and the Superintendent value an organizational structure and two-way system of communication whereby there is an open, orderly and constructive exchange of ideas, information and assistance among employees at every level. The organizational structure of the School Division shall include organizational charts wherein each employee may identify his/her relationship with other employees. The charts should show the line of authority (chain of command) and, where possible, the secondary lines of cooperation expected across various positions.
The organizational charts shall be a graphic interpretation of the lines of responsibility guidelines established in School Board Regulation 2-14.2.
