BUSINESS AND NONINSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS
Compulsory Use of Seat Belts
- Generally
This Regulation shall apply to all School Division employees.
- Compulsory Use of Seat Belts
All employees who drive or occupy the front seat of School Division vehicles or a privately owned vehicle on official School Division business shall wear their safety belts at all times whenever the vehicle is in motion and equipped with safety belt systems. This Regulation shall not apply to employees who have a physical or other bona fide medical reason, determined in writing by a licensed physician and presented to the central office, which makes wearing a safety belt impractical.
- Infractions/Penalties
- First Infraction
A warning shall be issued and a copy placed in the employee's personnel file for the first infraction. When an accident occurs concurrently with the first infraction, subsection C.2 of this Regulation will apply.
- Second and Subsequent Infractions
Second and subsequent infractions will result in suspension without pay. The number of days of suspension is to be determined by the Superintendent. Continuing infractions may constitute grounds for dismissal.

- Publicizing/Compliance
Administrative and supervisory personnel shall publicize this Regulation and insure compliance.
- Effective Date
This Regulation shall become effective on its date of approval and shall remain in full force until revised or rescinded by the School Board.
