VBCPS students outperform state on SOL tests

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released Standard of Learning (SOL) pass rate data on Aug. 27. The overall SOL pass rates for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) exceeded the state pass rates in all subject areas.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools Music Education Program Receives National Recognition for 16th Year

For the 16th time, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.

2025 Citywide Volunteers of the Year

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) values and promotes active engagement of the community in all our schools. The Office of Family and Community Engagement coordinates many volunteer opportunities for community members to interact and contribute to the academic achievement of our students and the overall continuous improvement of VBCPS.

2025-26 federal grant information presented to Virginia Beach School Board

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 13 meeting. For the 2025-26 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $21.6 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

INSTRUCTION

Copyrighted Materials

  1. Generally
    1. School Board Members, employees, students and citizens who may have access to equipment capable of making copies are to abide-by the copyright law cited as a legal reference to this Policy and any other applicable laws or regulations. The Superintendent or designee shall be responsible for promoting an understanding of the law among those persons concerned.
    2. It is the intent of the School Board to adhere to the provisions of the United States Copyright laws, regulations and guidelines. All employees, students and volunteers are responsible for maintaining the highest ethical standards in the use of all copyrighted materials. The School Board does not sanction the illegal use or unauthorized duplication or alteration of copyrighted works in any form. Unlawful copies of copyrighted materials may not be reproduced or used on School Board owned equipment, within School Board facilities, or at official School Board functions. The Superintendent is directed to develop appropriate regulations or guidance on compliance with copyright laws and ensure that staff and students are informed of their obligations regarding copyright law.
  2. Notices

    The Superintendent or designee will post appropriate copyright infringement warning notices on or near all equipment capable of making copies.

  3. Copyright Infringement

    Employees, students or volunteers who willfully violate this Policy, applicable regulation or guidance do so at their own risk and may be held personally liable for copyright infringement and may be subject to disciplinary action.
